In the 2010s, Aurélien Merle became passionate about Brazilian music and in particular the Tropicalism of Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil and Tom Zé. He also included in his Lusophone pantheon Chico Buarque, Egberto Gismonti... and artists of the next generation such as Marcelo Camelo, Mônica Salmaso and Lucas Santtana. From then on, in his concerts, he began to mix his own songs with this repertoire, and little by little, Brazilian songs took precedence over the rest to the point of publishing in 2022 a first EP, "No Peito", recorded at home with percussionist Gonzalo Campo and multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Petit Delor. On "Ensaboa" by Cartola, the singer Mônica Salmaso lends her voice for a duet with him, and 2 animated clips were produced by Lily Luca and Jean-Noël Criton .

In August 2022, Aurélien Merle performed solo during a series of concerts at the Peristyle Festival and released a first live, "No Peristilo". In 2024 he joined forces with the roda Marcel Samba and their collaboration led to a second live and the filming of 3 songs by Chico Buarque for the Youtube channel Le Cargo : "Sera Que Cristina Volta", "Samba De Orly" and "Apesar De Voce". He also performed a cover of "Tua Cantiga" on his own Youtube channel.

With the release of “No Peito”, Aurélien Merle has made an old dream come true by covering Brazilian songs that he has so often performed on stage. For these recordings, Aurélien Merle has surrounded himself with multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Petit Delor, percussionist Gonzalo Campo and Brazilian singer Mônica Salmaso. Warmth of brass and winds, percussion and abundant arrangements... the sounds of this new EP contrast with Aurélien Merle's previous albums, which were once minimalist and introverted. Here the chest ("peito") is untied, the voice blossoms, the day breaks.
